Hitoditer are, as the name suggests, a bait that goes ‘here and there’. The bait floats high and dives on retrieval. Crank it monotonously and it swims gently wobbling down to 2-3 m depth. Sweep it home with longer strokes of the rod and it will cut out to the sides. The lure does not have as definite a ‘hinge’ action side to side as a classic jerkbait, but the Hitoditer can easily strike twice in a row in the same direction and then suddenly cut in the other direction. You shouldn’t jerk this but more sweep/draw it with snappy sweeps and then mend/weave in slack line directly so you always have contact with the bait. Another advantage of the lure is that if you sometimes fish for forests of underwater vegetation, then as it floats high with your eyes on the lure, you can bring it home gently above the vegetation and then work the lure down with longer spinning sweeps into the dark vegetation pockets. Will be a real “ace” in the deck and a type of bait you probably don’t have many of in your arsenal, so Hitoditer probably have their place!Slight wobbling when monotonous retrieveGoes out to the sides with rod sweepsIrregular action
